A Place at the Edge is a masterplan development situated in Waver-tree Innovation Park, Liverpool, adjacent to the iconic Littlewoods Building. This large scale two-phase project is designed to strengthen community ties while enhancing cultural enrichment.
Phase One introduces a sustainable community center constructed using exposed glue-laminated timber beams and columns, echoing the area’s industrial past. The design prioritizes environmental responsibility, incorporating a green roof and natural materials. This center includes drama halls, workshop spaces, private music rooms, and a library, all intended to support local education, creativity, and social engagement.
Phase Two focuses on the arts and cultural performance, delivering a vibrant facility that includes an auditorium, gallery spaces, creative workshops, a café, and an outdoor Amphitheatre. A key feature of this phase is the film box theatre, aligning with the nearby Littlewoods Regeneration Project—known as the “Hollywood of the North”—which aims to revitalize Liverpool’s historic film industry.

The overall masterplan thoughtfully balances open, interactive public zones with tranquil green spaces. Hardscaped plazas encourage gathering and performance, while landscaped gardens provide areas for relaxation and reflection. This dynamic environment aims to serve as a lasting cultural and community landmark in the expansion of Liverpool.
