Hub for Youth: A subtle building blends in the context.

A care centre supports the youth physically and mentally.

Located in Liverpool L8, the building responds to its context—the iconic domes of the grand Orthodox church, the controlled openings of the nearby residential houses, and the grid pattern of the retail stores. While architecture maintains a humble character as its core concept, the design incorporates local adaptations in a way that gives the building a unique identity.

The project serves as a youth centre for the local community, targeting individuals aged 14 to 25. It supports a variety of needs, including physical activities, learning, and skill development, as well as providing a relaxed space where young people can spend time with friends or enjoy personal private time. From the outset, the project has placed a strong emphasis on mental well-being, offering a safe environment where youth can talk openly and receive professional support.

Adaptability and flexibility were key principles in shaping the functional layout of the building. The spatial arrangement is organised logically, following a structural grid. At the centre of the educational floor is a multi-purpose space that can accommodate a range of activities. A circular sliding door suspended from the ceiling enables this central area to transform into a closed setting for presentations, a semi-open space for exhibitions or workshops, or a fully open zone for any use.
