This architectural design project, situated in Mulazzo, Tuscany, reimagines a historical site as a dynamic entry/exit point for younger tourists, integrating a micro-exhibition space dedicated to global creative interpretations of Dante Alighieri’s legacy. By bridging past and present, the design harmonizes traditional materials—stone, timber, and terracotta—with contemporary elements like weathered steel and glass, preserving the town’s medieval-Renaissance character while introducing modern functionality.

Targeting diverse visitors, from self-driven hikers to cultural enthusiasts, the center offers immersive experiences through themed exhibitions, VR rooms, and a rooftop viewing lounge. The spatial strategy balances preservation and innovation: original façades are retained, while new structures create open public zones. A 244-meter ramp resolves elevation differences, ensuring accessibility and seamless circulation.

Environmental sustainability is prioritized through passive design—natural daylighting via skylights, cross-ventilation strategies, and locally sourced materials like stone for thermal efficiency. Fire safety and accessibility are embedded in the layout, with protected staircases, elevators, and clear escape routes.

By honoring Mulazzo’s architectural heritage—orange rooftops, honey-hued stone—and fostering dialogue between old and new, the project revitalizes the town’s cultural narrative, positioning it as a nexus for Dante-inspired art, history, and global creativity.
