Scalene Shift is a youth centre “”defined by motion, sculpted by scale and connected by community””. The project responds to its urban grain with a structural expression that echoes movement — stepping from 14m to 6m. It’s program includes a climbing wall, multi-use hall, and spaces for learning and creativity. The design also features a kinetic façade which dynamically opens or closes in response to weather conditions, revealing vibrant interior spaces like the café, multi-use hall, and climbing area to the surrounding pedestrianised streets. This adaptable design fosters openness and inclusivity, blurring boundaries between the centre and community while whilst fostering social interaction and engagement.
