The Liverpool 8 Youth Centre is a community-driven project based in Toxteth, Liverpool, aimed at creating a safe, inclusive space for young people to connect, grow, and thrive. In response to increasing concerns around youth safety and opportunity, the centre is designed to support personal development through access to sports, creative arts, social spaces, and educational programmes.
The building prioritises safety, accessibility, and flexibility. Key spaces include a multi-use sports hall and a climbing wall, along with music and art studios. The layout separates the noisier, active areas from quieter zones for learning and support, with a central atrium introducing natural light and visual connection throughout the building.
Architecturally, the centre draws inspiration from Toxteth’s rich built heritage, employing robust red brick, arched forms, and tactile materials. These references ground the project in its local context while contributing to a distinctive and contemporary civic identity.
